A follow-up to my prior post - in true Doctor tradition, we took something that was already fantastic and made it moreso. Behold: The S'MOreo: Take a regular Oreo, split it in half. Use 2 Hershey bar squares and a marshmallow done to your taste preference. Put it between the 2 halves of Oreo and abbondanza! Deliciozo! Various other Italian expressions of yum! :D

I smell like campfire and am going to bed as soon as I reply to stuff on here, because I'm dedicated like that. :)

Why didn't I see this last night!!! Then again, I don't think that it would fit into the insanity that is the paleo diet. Ugh. I am not liking it. And mr. Who wants to go to the paleo diet seminar that is being held at the CrossFit gym we belong to, this afternoon.

I just googled paleo diet. Wow. I sort of agree with some of it but to me it sounds a little extreme. I kind of buy into the avoidance of all things processed but I think you're going to have some processed food at some point. If you go, you'll have to enlighten us Who. I'm curious, how do they handle dairy? Do you not eat any dairy on this diet?

Hee, I now have visions of the Who out milking a cow or I suppose a goat would work too...

Frankly, I need enlightening too. Mr. Who has been trying to convince me of this way of eating for months now. I am in complete agreement with the non processed food. It is hard, but we have been eating non processed for quite a while now... Well I would say we are 80% there. I do love my chips, dark chocolate and dairy. Speaking of dairy, it is not allowed on Paleo. Yeah. And grains? Nope. Dont get me started on that... I DO think it is too extreme, especially for the girls.

But but bread baking! I do get it but I think it would be hard. I know you can get calcium from green leafy vegs but yeah, I think kids do need some form of milk in their diet. I will admit that I lose weight much easier and faster if I stick to protein, veggies and fruit with only small amounts of grains and dairy. I don't think I'd eliminate them completely though.

I am curious what you think after you learn more about it. I try to keep an open mind on these things. Even if you don't go the whole route with it, I'm sure you'll learn quite a bit.

Yipes! I just checked that out - there is definitely no room for Oreos there. :/ That's quite a regimen - I might be tempted to try something similar to it (despite my dependence on them, I have an aversion to processed food - I know damn well what I'm eating when I shove that garbage in, but sometimes it's all we've got).

This post has me thinking about trying to get back in shape. Might try my hand at a run (jog. okay, quick shuffle ha ha) later today. Last year, when everything was going downhill with mom, I lost all my discipline. It's time to get it back now. Back to the gym, back to the running (fast shuffling) - stop eating Cheetos and S'Moreos. :b

See my reply above to KK. I DO think it is too extreme of a diet. Outside of the pain, I do love the way I am feeling physically and emotionally since I started working out again. It is a great feeling. I have always had a bit of depression (it runs in my family, and with moving all the time, well, it is a perfect petri dish...) and it has really subsided even in the few days that I started exercising.

You have every reason to not have worked out this year, but it is always a good thing. Lace up your running shoes and shuffle out the door! I am NOT a runner, given I have two blown ACLs... I swim and bike... I completely understand the shuffle.

I think the concept is a good one, generally. It's much better than a lot of the diets out there now.

Swimming is my thing! We grew up with a pool, and when mom died my brother got the house and we've spent this whole last summer getting the pool back into shape - it's like heaven! But we are definitely going for a shuffle around the high school track today - it is needed. Hopefully, it will be a nice mood elevator for me as well. :D

How did you ever think of that! That is decadent.

We were getting the stuff for s'mores, and the graham crackers are near the Oreos and my mind just wandered... :D It's divine, but you only need one or two to be satisfied.

We're not even going to bother with graham crackers for a while now. Highly recommend the switch to oreos. :) *hugs*
