A Note For Flower and Willow Chapter 9...

Chapter 9 should be posted tomorrow morning, or late tonight, for those of you reading it. When I refer to natto in the story, in case you've never heard of it. I wanted you to have a good picture in your mind of what I was referring to. Here it is:

Those are beans in that slimy stuff. It's fermented soybeans in a paste that gets thicker, stickier and more web-like the more you stir it. Just for your reference, in case you didn't have a point of reference. They once did a natto battle on Iron Chef (Japan).

Just out of curiosity - what does it taste like? It looks like it would be a weird texture.

Um, I've heard that it tastes like moldy sweat socks, actually. This is one Japanese dish that I have only feared from afar and never tried. It's legendarily nasty. :) Weird texture (I imagine beans in the marshmallow part of a Rice Krispies treat before it's solidified) Gaaa.

I think I've had something similar before, but with a sort of Vietnamese spin on it (my mom's Vietnamese) I think she used some kind of black bean instead, but it looks fairly similar, or they could be completely different. *shrugs*

I fear beans in weblike suspension, and I'm one of those try anything girls when it comes to food. I applaud your bravery. :)

.....it looks likes fish eggs stuck in spiderwebs.

Very apt description. I imagine it tastes something like that, too.... :b

Gahhh, that looks horrid!! *Shivers*

Yeah. No likey. There is nothing at all redeeming about this dish in my opinion.

Looks like it could be a delicacy from Raxicorico-Falibatorius.
