So, in real life I'm quite an outgoing person. Love adventure. Have tried a variety of experiences, from playing five seasons of roller derby to singing with an internationally-ranked women's barbershop chorus, from studying until achieving a semi-functional understanding of 5 languages to performing improv comedy in clubs around the region to having the dubious distinction of being the voice of the "Cheaper Cheaper Chicken" on a local television commercial. But, when it comes to writing, I hide under the bed and occasionally slide a piece of paper out for people to look at, then cringe. I have appalling stage fright when it comes to writing. The irony is, that's what I want to do with my life and always have.

So, anyway, I got the courage to get on Teaspoon and have gotten a very warm reception. (thanks!!) So now, in a moment of spinal fortitude heretofore unseen in the life of Timelord1 the writer, I'm going to take the plunge and actually post something on my fanfiction.net account. Yikes. Cringe.

*scurries back under the bed*

I was the opposite! FF didn't scare me, but TS terrified me!!!
You have no reason to be fearful... Your stories are fantastic!

Cool! Roller derby and barbershop!!! Would love to do either of those.

Well thank you. That's nice of you to say. :) Not sure why FF is so much scarier, but it's just daunting to me. Decided to post "What Happens in Vegas" first, just to see what people think. The interface for that site is confusing to me as well. Teaspoon is very user-friendly. And, the people on Teaspoon are very friendly, which helps a lot. :D

I'm with the Who. I as on FF first and was petrified to post to Teaspoon. I think you get tons more reads and reviews on FF than you do on Teaspoon.

I think all writers are terrified just a bit. Love all the stuff you've tried! I'm a terribly shy person in real life so I pretty much decided I had to do something about it. I volunteered with a charity to give historical tours. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. You gotta face the fears. Just post it and be proud.

That's neat! What sort of tours??

Yeah, as I post more and more stuff I'm realizing that being a writer is a combination of glorious ego and the sucking void left by a complete lack of confidence. :) At least we have places like Teaspoon and fanfiction to comfort one another, yeah?

Well for the most part we covered local history in N FL from 1822 to about 1940s era. The tours changed each year. Mostly, I dressed up as a late 19th century lady - kind of shopkeeper/school teacherish although last year I was a flapper. It was lots of fun. I moved so I'm missing it this year.

I'll be watching for you on FF. If you need any help navigating your way around posting/uploading, let me know and I'll see if I can help you.

That's fantastic! Sounds like a lot of fun, especially the flapper part how cool is that! :D

I'm there - Timelord1 as usual. Uploaded "Vegas" and have gotten a few reads, but I'm kind of confused as to how the forums and stuff work - besides uploading it to the main area, do I post it somewhere else, or what happens from there?

No, you don't have to post it anywhere else. I just took a peek and it looks fine. As for reads, give it some time. You will get more reads and reviews over the weekend. (at least that's what I have found).

Good luck on fanfic! I wouldn't have a clue what to do with it though I started with Teaspoon and very tentatively joined livejournal.

I'm exceedingly taciturn, in almost every waking area of life, except MUN; which is where I get my adventure. I used to hate sharing anything I had written or done really and I still approach with a really long stick really Doctor Who fics are the only stories I share, any others are staying in the complete safety of my computer's hard drive (Alien pages and taking deer definitely embarrassing).

I have plenty of stuff like that, though as more people give feedback and read my stuff and seem to like it, the more I am tempted to put some of my original stuff out there. We'll see. I'll let you know how fanfic is. :)
