Nervous Ninnyhammer
Sep. 1st, 2011 09:07 amSo, in real life I'm quite an outgoing person. Love adventure. Have tried a variety of experiences, from playing five seasons of roller derby to singing with an internationally-ranked women's barbershop chorus, from studying until achieving a semi-functional understanding of 5 languages to performing improv comedy in clubs around the region to having the dubious distinction of being the voice of the "Cheaper Cheaper Chicken" on a local television commercial. But, when it comes to writing, I hide under the bed and occasionally slide a piece of paper out for people to look at, then cringe. I have appalling stage fright when it comes to writing. The irony is, that's what I want to do with my life and always have.
So, anyway, I got the courage to get on Teaspoon and have gotten a very warm reception. (thanks!!) So now, in a moment of spinal fortitude heretofore unseen in the life of Timelord1 the writer, I'm going to take the plunge and actually post something on my fanfiction.net account. Yikes. Cringe.
*scurries back under the bed*

Date: 2011-09-01 04:54 pm (UTC)I think all writers are terrified just a bit. Love all the stuff you've tried! I'm a terribly shy person in real life so I pretty much decided I had to do something about it. I volunteered with a charity to give historical tours. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. You gotta face the fears. Just post it and be proud.

Date: 2011-09-01 05:21 pm (UTC)Yeah, as I post more and more stuff I'm realizing that being a writer is a combination of glorious ego and the sucking void left by a complete lack of confidence. :) At least we have places like Teaspoon and fanfiction to comfort one another, yeah?

Date: 2011-09-01 08:33 pm (UTC)I'm there - Timelord1 as usual. Uploaded "Vegas" and have gotten a few reads, but I'm kind of confused as to how the forums and stuff work - besides uploading it to the main area, do I post it somewhere else, or what happens from there?

Date: 2011-09-02 12:24 am (UTC)I'm exceedingly taciturn, in almost every waking area of life, except MUN; which is where I get my adventure. I used to hate sharing anything I had written or done really and I still approach with a really long stick really Doctor Who fics are the only stories I share, any others are staying in the complete safety of my computer's hard drive (Alien pages and taking deer definitely embarrassing).
