A shorty, Untitled

My new virtual fiancee, [livejournal.com profile] onabearskinrug, posted a prompt this morning. Three words: Apple bottom jeans.
This was my response.

Rose awoke with a start. Her room was dark and quiet, but she could hear rhythmic thumping coming from somewhere deep in the ship. She slipped out of bed and crept into the hallway in her bare feet. She went to the Doctor’s bedroom and put her ear against the door. Silence. She slid along the wall to peer around into the control room. The overhead lights were off, the only illumination coming from the soft blue glow of the idling TARDIS engines. Still, the thumping went on, somewhere in the distance. Moving like a ninja, Rose passed through the shadowed hallways, following the sound, careful not to set off any motion sensors or catch her toe on any tripwires the Doctor might have installed.

The thumping brought her to a hallway she’d never seen before. The walls were quivering with the rhythm of the thumping, and got louder as she glided along the floor. She had to admire her own sneaking skills. There was a time when she couldn’t have crept up on a statue without it knowing she was coming, but now, after so much time sneaking around with the Doctor, she was nothing more than a trick of the light, a blurred motion caught in the corner of your eye, gone before you could register she’d been there.

She finally came to a door that was buzzing with the thumping. She took a breath to steel herself, then slid the door open, jumping inside the room.

The Doctor was bouncing around the room in time to the music, arms splayed, wearing a pair of dark sunglasses and a red velvet hat that would have looked more at home on the head of a 70's pimp than on a nine-hundred-year-old Time Lord. He hadn’t seen Rose yet, and continued his bouncing. And his rapping.

“Apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur..with the fur…The whole club was lookin at her! She hit the flo, She hit the flo…Next thing you know, Shawty got low low low low low low low low..” he caught sight of her and screamed, the hat falling off his head as he zapped the stereo with the sonic screwdriver.

“Hello,” he said after a moment.

Rose quirked an eyebrow at him. “This what you do while I’m sleeping?”

He took off the sunglasses and chewed on one of the bows. “Quite often, yes.”

She nodded. "Does Huggy Bear know you have his hat?"

I'm of a mind that the more we open it up to, the more notice it will all get, so I say all of who. There just isn't enough Jon Pertwee crack out there as of now... ;)

I'm rubbish at a name, but can do whatever else is needed. :) I need to join some of these other groups, too...just a note-to-self....

Oh yay this is going to be exciting!!!!!!!

I like the Crackery :-) but yeah, I'm bad with names too :-) also classic who is necessary IMHO :-) too many possibilities with Tom Baker :-)

I vote Banana_Crackeri or Banana_Craquerei (but that spelling, pithy though it may be, would be too hard for many people to remember.)

Okay, first note: LOVE that icon!!!!

That being out of the way, I lean more towards Banana_Crackeri for the same spelling reasons. We could have the subtitle "Because bananas are good, and so is crack!"

Yes. We will be Crack Lords. Crack Lord Lindsay, that's me. Hello! :-)

[identity profile] timelord1.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
YES!!! Crack Lords!!! Must photoshop picture of self in robes of Rassillon...however you spell that....

[identity profile] onabearskinrug.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)

I like it :-) and I agree, that second spelling is adorable but would be tough to remember. We will need an awesome layout. Like, if we could find all eleven doctors CRACKING up (get it???) that would be fun to design around. Or maybe I'm super lame, and don't be afraid to tell me so :-)

That's as close as I can find of a laughing Hartnell...more research is required...

[identity profile] who-in-whoville.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes!! Every single one of them with their funniest laugh face or silly expression would be most appropriate!

[identity profile] timelord1.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I will work on this starting tonight after chorus. :)

YAY!!!

I'll apply the same layout style that I have on my LJ, so it will be easier to work with... now that I remember WHICH ONE I used!

What colors do you think? I definitely like a white background for text. It is much easier to read.

[identity profile] timelord1.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah for sure. For my mind, blue looks the best on monitors, but what about - getting clever here - something in the tones of Baker's scarf? Too much? I'll muse on this more...

[identity profile] who-in-whoville.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with blue. it is easy on the eyes.

[identity profile] timelord1.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm starting work finding images of the 11 doctors being goofy. Manip will start tonight. :) Allons-y!

I need to get off of LJ too. Board meeting...
