I am 40 pages into the sequel to "Briar Rose" - I like to write the story out completely before uploading chapters, in case I have to go back and adjust things. This story is a little more action-oriented than the previous one, a little more dramatic and intense. At least, that's the goal!!

My genre is fantasy, so I wrote "Briar Rose" as a way to bridge between my comfortable genre and Dr. Who - this story has its feet more firmly planted in the world of Dr. Who, but I hope it doesn't lose anything in the translation. Lots of twists and turns, and I want to be sure they're all ironed out properly before putting out there.

The good news, or bad news ha ha, is that I have ideas for a third and fourth story after I finish this one. Not sequels, but individual ideas. When writing, I always have a journal next to the computer when I'm working. I call it my "portable brain," the place where I keep notes and ideas as they come to me while writing. My portable brain for Doctor Who stories is an unimpressive green composition book with bad drawings all over the cover. It's almost half full already with ideas for these stories and new stories to come. At some point I'm going to have to go "home" to the fantasy novel so it can get finished up and I can start shopping it around for a publisher/agent/thingy, but for now I'm completely enjoying writing Dr. Who!

It's still so mind-blowing to have people say nice things about something I've written. Not that the writing is spectacular, but just to have total strangers be supportive when they have no reason to be so is a fantastic feeling. I have to keep forcing myself not to write too fast just to be able to upload chapters to Teaspoon. :)
