Music of the Spheres

Hi all - anybody out there have songs they use that particularly inspire them one way or another when writing Who fiction? I thought it might be fun to post them into one jumbo, shared playlist.

Here's a few that inspire me:

"Uprising" by Muse - it has a real "Who" sound to it, and evokes images of battle and struggle and intensity.

"Exogenesis: Symphony Part 3 'Redemption'"  by Muse, from the same album as above, it is very heartfelt and emotional. Listened to this a lot when writing the emotional parts of "Paradox Clones" - esp. the "Let me go," part. Very moving piece of music

"When We First Met" by Hellogoodbye - I play this one a lot when writing the silly fluff.

Anything by Woodpigeon, especially off the album "Songbook" is also good for twee/fluff. :)

Since I write all of my fics based upon Jazz pieces, I have created a Jazz!Verse playlist for my iPod which, of course, includes every song upon which I have based a fic.

I also listen to Who soundtracks, but I can only listen to Vale Decem a few times before I feel like weeping myself into a frenzy (LOL!).

I really love classical, so I listen to that often.

Classic Brit rock - Beatles, etc.. because it just fits Ten, and that's what i mainly write.

BTW, I really AM working today -- working on lesson plans for CDTG's schooling which begins on Monday. I am just one of those people who has to answer replies and posts immediately or else I feel overwhelmed by LJ.

I do use alot of music as inspiration. It depends on what I'm writing as to what I listen to though.

For my BadWolf Rose/11 stuff - I usually listen to Nancy Sinatra's These Boots are Made for Walking to write Rose. I have no idea why. It' just get's me into a mature Rose mode. For Eleven, I usually listen to one of his eps and the the new music. Usually something fast paced and crazy to match his personality. Whe I wrote the last fic in that series it was all about the 80s so I listend to stuff like Open Arms etc and incorporated it into the fic. Oh for the Smurfs, it's a classical piece that they used in the cartoon!

I've listened to quite a variety. I have one chapt in TEA when it was all about the Tango. Loved listening to Tango music. I do highly recommend it to give you that sexy vibe. Later, I listened to lots of the Beatles for adventurey stuff.

Lordstorm is probably more the line of I'm Too Sexy for this Shirt or whatever I'm writing about. Hmmm not sure about the sonic ducky part. Oh yeah, I incorported it into the fic - Unforgettable - duet by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole! I think I started that off with something romantic before I got to the smut. Hee.

Anyway I listen to just about any kind of music so anything could set me off in a particular direction. Someone on my f-list had a video of Black Velvet so I've had that playing in my head lately. It makes me think of 9/Rose though. I haven't written 9 yet. I want to but I haven't set myself to do it.

I wrote a series where all the stories were inspired by old country songs, but that might not be what you had in mind.
